RN to MSN Bridge Programs in South Carolina

The Anderson Independent Mail published an article in January of 2009, which was then republished on the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation website that discussed the severe implications that a nursing faculty shortage has had on the supply of registered nurses in the state of South Carolina. The lack of nurse educators throughout the state has been felt at all levels of nursing education from entry-level to the master’s level and beyond. RN to MSN online programs are one way that the nursing faculty shortage can be addressed and possibly alleviated to some extent.

RN to MSN Online Programs Offered in South Carolina

The RN to MSN is designed for registered nurses that hold an associate’s degree in nursing or a diploma in nursing. RN to MSN online programs are offered by some of the most well known nursing schools in the country. The majority of the programs are accredited by an accrediting body respective to the specialty, such as CCNE, NLNAC or ACME. Online RN to MSN programs can be completed in about three years depending on the student, course load taken each quarter or semester, concentration and other factors. Clinical or practicum requirements for online programs can often be arranged in the student’s local community or region.

The RN to MSN with a nurse educator concentration is quickly becoming a favorite of many nurses and nursing schools, as it is bringing a younger generation of nurses into nursing faculty positions. The RN to MSN can be completed in a reduced amount of time as compared to the traditional route of earning a BSN practicing for two or more years (often required by master’s nursing programs) and then pursuing and MSN degree. Nurse educator specializations are not the only concentration available, nursing schools may offer nurse administrator, nurse practitioner, nursing informatics and nurse leadership concentrations. Listed below are the RN to MSN programs currently offered in South Carolina.

If your are hesitant to commit three years at this time, the you may be interested in an RN to BSN program in South Carolina. RN to BSN programs can be completed in as little as one year.
