CNA Training in Nevada

The first step to CNA certification in Nevada for a new CNA requires successful completion of a CNA training program that has been approved by the Nevada State Board of Nursing. A list of these programs can be found below. The second step is to pass a two component competency evaluation. The first component is a written or oral exam and the second is a skills evaluation. Upon completion of both these steps a new CNA will need to complete and submit the Application for Certified Nursing Assistant. Additional information on this process can be found on the Nevada State Board of Nursing website.

Examples of CNA program topics that will be covered include basic nursing skills, communication and interpersonal relationships, safety and infection control, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, caring for patients with cognitive disorders, care for dying patients and many other nursing related topics. Some CNAs who have been offered employment prior to beginning a CNA program as well as for those who have completed a program and testing and have since been hired by a nursing facility are eligible for federal reimbursement of their program, testing and course material fees. Please, check with your employer to learn more about this.
