RN to BSN Online Programs in Louisiana – No Residency Requirements

According to the AACN and ANA, the BSN should be the minimum educational requirement for professional nursing. The AACN is also a proponent of online programs that have made higher education available to those registered nurses that had previously not had access to this opportunity. RN to BSN programs offer career mobility and advanced education opportunities.

RN to BSN graduates often advance into positions of leadership and greater responsibility. They are also eligible to pursue master’s level education where opportunities include advanced practice, education, management, consulting, policy making and more. BSN educated nurses are not necessarily paid more than associate’s educated nurses, however higher education in all industries often equates to greater career opportunities which result in increased earnings over a lifetime. According to the Advance for Nurses 2009 Salary Survey, registered nurses with a BSN in Louisiana made an average hourly wage of $29.38. MSN and MS educated nurses made $43.00 an hour, which should be incentive to earn your BSN and continue on to master’s level course work. These wages are averages and will vary significantly based on specialty, experience, location, facility and various other factors. An RN to MSN program in Louisiana may be another option.
