Sen. Bernard Sanders, I-Vt stated, in a February, 2007 address, “To deal with the nursing shortage we want to increase the capacity of our nursing schools. In rural areas we are having a very difficult time attracting the medical personnel we need.”
“Here in the middle of a nursing crisis we don’t have the capacity to educate the people who want to be nurses,” he said. “We have to train a heck of a lot more nurses; we need to make the profession a lot more economically attractive.”
