Utah nursing schools have not been immune to the nursing faculty shortage impacting the rest of the country. The nursing schools in Utah have so many applicants they are having to turn away or waitlist two to three for every one that they accept. Without the faculty there is no way to admit or graduate more students which in turn has the potential to compound the Utah nursing shortage. Since this data was released the economy has shifted and what was once a nursing shortage has become less of one, but for reasons that had been previously unforeseen. The Utah Nurses Association cited a shortage of 2,000 nurses, with numbers climbing.
