CNA Training Programs in Florida

Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) in Florida work under the supervision of Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) or Registered Nurses (RNs). A CNA is in direct patient contact and some of their responsibilities include taking vital signs, assisting patients with bathing and toileting, physically moving patients, feeding patients, assist with overall patient hygiene and a related duties.

Nursing Assistant and Patient Care Technician programs offered in Florida are designed to help prepare a student to perform the afore mentioned skills, in addition to others, and pass the Florida CNA Exam. The Florida Department of Health / CNA Registry/Board of Nursing oversees Nursing Assistant / Nurse Aide certification as well as the CNA Registry. According to the Florida Board of Nursing attending an approved CNA training program is not required, but highly recommended. Nursing Assistant students can actually begin work as a CNA in a nursing home while still in the process of completing a nursing assistant training program for up to 120 days. The requirement is that the CNA successfully pass the Florida CNA Exam within this time period. A patient care technician (PCT) training program covers more material and is a bit more extensive than a CNA training program. The PCT training program will also help prepare students for the Florida CNA Exam to become a Certified Nursing Assistant in Florida.
